Angelina Jolie made a splash for World Bee Day this Thursday by teaming up with National Geographic to discuss the significance of protecting bees. The actress/activist, aged 45, was even surrounded by a swarm of bees for a stunning photo captured by Dan Winters, an amateur beekeeper.
Angelina Jolie looked absolutely stunning as she posed for a unique photo shoot on World Bee Day. In the image, she is seen with bees delicately crawling on her face and neck, while her captivating green eyes and flawless skin steal the spotlight.
Dressed in a chic off-the-shoulder top, Angelina embraced the moment as the bees explored her collarbone and chin. The process of getting this striking shot was quite a challenge, as Angelina shared that she had to go without bathing for three days leading up to the shoot.
“It was quite amusing to prepare for the shoot by using pheromones instead of regular showering,” Angelina jokingly revealed. “They advised me to avoid using any scented products so the bees wouldn’t be confused by different smells. It was a unique experience, but definitely worth it in the end.”
Angelina also shared some behind-the-scenes details, mentioning how she had to place certain things in her nose and ears to prevent the bees from crawling in. Despite the unconventional preparations, the end result was a stunning photo that truly captured the essence of World Bee Day.
Update: Angelina has been appointed as the ‘godmother’ of Women for Bees, an initiative created by UNESCO to empower and assist women beekeeper-entrepreneurs globally.
Angelina recounted how during a recent shoot, a bee found its way under her dress and stayed there throughout the entire session, reminiscent of an old comedy scene. She felt its presence on her knee and leg, worrying about getting stung in such an unfortunate place. Despite the discomfort, the bee persisted until Angelina managed to remove the others and gently guided it away when she lifted her skirt.
As a newly appointed ‘godmother’ for Women for Bees, a UNESCO program supporting female beekeeper-entrepreneurs worldwide, Angelina expressed her joy in connecting with these fascinating creatures. She acknowledged the challenge of remaining still and present, given her usual restlessness, but found solace in the experience.
Reflecting on the symbolism of bees as sometimes feared or misunderstood creatures, Angelina emphasized the importance of coexisting peacefully on this planet. She felt privileged and grateful for the opportunity to share such a profound moment with nature.
